Everything you need to know

What is Botox®?

Anti-wrinkle injections, otherwise known as Botox®, are indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles. It is also used as a preventative treatment to stop further lines and wrinkles developing. A consultation is required prior to any treatment and should only be performed by a medical professional.

What else can Botox® be used for?

Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) is a common issue and can affect the whole body or just certain areas. Sometimes it gets better with age but regular Botox® treatments can help.

Other treatments include; smokers lines, gummy smiles, chin dimples, bunny lines, jaw clenching, teeth grinding and facial slimming. These are all issues that can be helped by Botox® treatments. Please speak to your nurse practitioner who is advanced in facial aesthetics, Samantha, regarding any of your concerns. All consultations are free of charge.

Are there any side effects?

Like all medicines and treatments, Botox® can have side effects, although many clients experience no side effects from the treatment. In general side effects usually occur within the first few days following injection and usually subside within a few days. Common side effects are; headaches, skin redness, tenderness at the injection site.

You may read about drooping of the eyelid (ptosis) which can occur when Botox® migrates into a muscle causing it to droop. This can only occur if Botox® is injected into a wrong muscle or if a client rubs the injected area in the first few hours causing the Botox® migrate. It is important to follow all aftercare which is provided and to avoid hats/helmets and visors post treatment.
